Service: Website Review
In a website review, sometimes referred to as an
"expert review" or "heuristic evaluation", I perform
a comprehensive review of your website's
usability and how well
it executes your marketing strategy, including these factors:
- Consistency of the business's vision throughout the site.
- Consistency of the business's identity system throughout the site.
- Common design mistakes and how to fix them.
- Adherence to design heuristics, both standard and site/business-specific.
- Consistency of user experience and interaction design.
- Scenario/task-based analysis.
- Clarity of task flow (i.e. where's the 'banana'?)
- Error-proofing (a.k.a. poke-yoke).
When the review is finished, I create a written report of my findings, including
recommendations for both short-term fixes and how to address issues
over a longer term. Then we meet to go over the report together.
How It Works
- I do a quick scan of your website, recording my initial impressions and identifying
major problems with the site.
- We discuss your Web strategy.
We discuss discrepencies between what you are trying to achieve
and what your website is actually communicating.
- I perform a task-based analysis.
- I compile and priorite issues with your website.
- I write up and send you a formal usability report.
- We meet to discuss the report and how you can proceed to improve your website.
