Service: Website Review

In a website review, sometimes referred to as an "expert review" or "heuristic evaluation", I perform a comprehensive review of your website's usability and how well it executes your marketing strategy, including these factors:
  • Consistency of the business's vision throughout the site.
  • Consistency of the business's identity system throughout the site.
  • Common design mistakes and how to fix them.
  • Adherence to design heuristics, both standard and site/business-specific.
  • Consistency of user experience and interaction design.
  • Scenario/task-based analysis.
  • Clarity of task flow (i.e. where's the 'banana'?)
  • Error-proofing (a.k.a. poke-yoke).

When the review is finished, I create a written report of my findings, including recommendations for both short-term fixes and how to address issues over a longer term. Then we meet to go over the report together.

How It Works

  1. I do a quick scan of your website, recording my initial impressions and identifying major problems with the site.
  2. We discuss your Web strategy. We discuss discrepencies between what you are trying to achieve and what your website is actually communicating.
  3. I perform a task-based analysis.
  4. I compile and priorite issues with your website.
  5. I write up and send you a formal usability report.
  6. We meet to discuss the report and how you can proceed to improve your website.
